Meet the Ladies

Vintage Moxie Flix was founded by friends and filmmakers Susan M. Carr and Meredith Binder. Like many independent filmmakers, we aspire to create positive change through the stories we tell. By focusing on telling stories about women over the age of 50, we hope to change the way older women are portrayed in the media.

Society has much to gain from having access to authentic, inspiring stories about this  demographic. Not only is there a history to record, express, and celebrate, but there is a unique voice that has grown out of the struggles and triumphs we shared as we shaped a new, more equitable society.

As older women, we have worn many colorful hats and experienced history in our own ways.  Wisdom comes with age, and we hope the truth of the shared adventures expressed in our work will affect everyone in a meaningful way.

We write our stories for and cast the films with talented actresses of age and experience; i.e., vintage women with moxie!

Who We Are

About Meredith

Meredith Binder took her first acting class at the age of 40. A few years later she made her film  debut in Jamie Hook’s “Naked Proof(2004 Northwest Film Form Start to Finish Grant/Netflix).  Inspired by her experiences on set, she produced her first film, “Rent’s Due,” which not only gained distribution, but also enjoyed a short run on Frontier Airlines’ in-flight media.

Since “Rent’s Due,” Meredith has written and produced 14 more short films and written several  feature scripts. In addition to creating her own content, she has amassed countless acting  credits both in film and theater. Recent film/TV credits include “Death of Snow White” (Dir Jason  Brooks, in post prod), “Rufus” (Dir Mars Roberge, post prod), “Due Justice” (Dir Javier Reyna/Apple TV, Prime), “The Food That Built America” (Dir Brad Grimm History Channel), and  “Seduced to Slay” (Dir Ricky Lewis/Apple TV, MAX, Hulu).

After seeing the “Rent’s Due” screening at the Bumbershoot Film Festival in 2005, Susan M Carr reached out and introduced herself to Meredith. Since that time the two actresses/filmmakers have performed together in several films, created content for their Leading Ladies social media series, and most recently launched Vintage Moxie Flix with their first short film “Unexpected Grace.”

Before deciding to pursue the arts full time, Meredith had a successful career as an  engineering manager. She holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of  Vermont and BS in Physics from the University of Michigan.

Meredith is married to George Ostrow, an architect and building energy modeler. The couple has two children.
